January 19, 2002 I was surprised to see the "Navy to bomb area near Ocala" story relegated to a back page. When Navy exercises resumed at Vieques, Puerto Rico, it was front-page news. Also missing from the story were comments from the Rev. Al Sharpton, Mrs. Jesse Jackson and Sen. Hillary Clinton, who traveled to Vieques to protest the exercises. The Rev. Sharpton and Mrs. Jackson even suffered arrest and jail time for their beliefs. Surely now that the residents of Marion County, Florida, will soon be suffering the noise and danger of naval bombardment and daisy-cutter bombs, the Vieques protesters will be arriving en masse to defend Florida citizens.
